Un esguince es una lesi\u00f3n que se presenta sobre alg\u00fan ligamento articular, la cual siempre conlleva una ruptura parcial o total del ligamento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Es imperioso mencionar que un ligamento<\/strong> es un tejido fibroconectivo y el\u00e1stico que une dos huesos, los cuales forman una articulaci\u00f3n. Su funci\u00f3n principal es darle estabilidad a la misma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La principal lesi\u00f3n del ligamento es el esguince. Este se genera en el momento que la articulaci\u00f3n es llevada m\u00e1s all\u00e1 del rango de movilidad normal. Dicha lesi\u00f3n se clasifica en tres grados:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

G<\/em>rado I<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Se caracteriza por presentar dolor leve, m\u00ednima p\u00e9rdida de la funci\u00f3n, leve alteraci\u00f3n de la sensibilidad local, inflamaci\u00f3n escasa o ausente y movilidad normal a la revisi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

G<\/em>rado II<\/em><\/strong>: <\/em> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

En estos casos se presenta mayor dolor, p\u00e9rdida moderada de la movilidad o de la funci\u00f3n e inflamaci\u00f3n. Habitualmente, aparece equimosis<\/a><\/strong> roja \u2014com\u00fanmente llamada “moret\u00f3n\u2014 que posteriormente se torna negra y en algunos casos, inestabilidad ligera o moderada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grado III:<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Es una lesi\u00f3n grave, muy dolorosa, con p\u00e9rdida severa de la funci\u00f3n, e inestabilidad evidente. El paciente habitualmente refiere que no siente segura su marcha, que le condiciona claudicar o definitivamente no apoyar. Adem\u00e1s, la sensibilidad es francamente anormal y se presenta una inflamaci\u00f3n severa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las articulaciones m\u00e1s susceptibles de padecer esguinces dentro del \u00e1rea deportiva son \u2014por su frecuencia\u2014 tobillos, rodillas y hombros.<\/strong> Las mu\u00f1ecas y codos se ven afectadas en menor frecuencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No existe una forma adecuada de prevenci\u00f3n, ya que estas lesiones siempre est\u00e1n asociadas a accidentes o traumatismos directos o indirectos. Sin embargo, una manera de minimizar la severidad <\/strong>es con una adecuada preparaci\u00f3n en la que se incluye:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n
  1. El equipo o vestimenta espec\u00edfico como el calzado para correr.<\/li>
  2. Calentamiento adecuado.<\/li>
  3. Fortalecimiento correcto, el cual se logra con el entrenamiento previo.<\/li>
  4. Alimentaci\u00f3n e hidrataci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica para deportistas.<\/li>
